Viewing Tegrity Content

Tegrity content creation and delivery solutions allow you, the learner to view a recording of classroom instruction or training via the Internet. The recorded content may contain instructor�s writing, drawing, pointing and highlighting with content, audio, video, slides, close-up video, snapshots, screen recordings and quizzes.,. You can view it by streaming online, or download the recording to your local hard drive and view it offline at your own convenience.  Tegrity has also indexed each recording to allow you to navigate easily through the session.

Tegrity Player Title Page

After you click on a link to launch a Tegrity session, the title page should come up. This page contains the information about the session itself (slide window on the right) and the bandwidths that are available for you to view the session with (located at the left). If you are connected to the Internet with a standard dial-up modem, choose the Dial-up Modem link from the �Choose Your Connection� window located on the title page�s lower left side. The dial-up modem connection is usually identified by the lower number (i.e., 28K).  LAN or broadband viewers (i.e., a cable modem or DSL) may choose the higher bandwidth connection (i.e., 100K).  If you are not sure about your Internet connection type we recommended that you choose the lowest bandwidth option available.

On this page you�ll also find the �First Time User? Click Here� option. This allows you to run the Tegrity system check to let Tegrity test your system and make sure that you have all the necessary components to view the Tegrity session. It will try to automatically configure the environment for you and inform you about any necessary additional steps that you might need to take.

In order to start playing the session, please click on one of the bandwidth options from the �Choose Your Connection Speed� window.

If a Download button is available (�Download for later viewing�), you may click on it to download the session for offline viewing. In the Download window you�ll have the option to select a level of quality for your needs. Please note that the high bandwidth download files are significantly larger than low bandwidth download files, and will effect your download time.

Using the navigation control panel (located directly below the slide window area) you can :

• Play or Pause the recording.
• Control the volume of the recording.
• Print slides of the recording.
• Drag the slider to jump to any point in the recording.
• Skip forward and backward in the recording, one bookmark at a time.
• Click on the "Index" button to view the recording's bookmarks. While navigating the indexed bookmarks, you can:
  1. Double Click on the slide you want to jump to. The selected slide opens on the screen and the audio/video display synchronizes itself automatically to the selected slide.
  2. Click on the magnifying glass in the top left corner of a thumbnail slide. The Tegrity Player will zoom in to that slide for viewing, while the playback pauses. When you click Play, the session continues from the start of that slide, and shows its "build-up."
  3. Click on the "Resume" button to return to the recording. The audio and video display will return to synchronization with the current page of the recording.
• Click the Search button to open the search panel. With this panel you can locate a keyword in the recording and start playing from that point.  Search includes text on PowerPoint slides, PowerPoint notes, Closed Captions, Links, Bookmark names, and speech-to-text conversion from instructor audio (where applicable).
• Click on the "X" to close the session.
• View the Tegrity status window to get information about the number of the current slide, the current elapsed time, and session�s status information.

The list below the instructor's video displays the current slide information (name and time). You can navigate through the recording using this index list.

If Closed Captions are available, they will be displayed under the instructor video.

In addition to the regular Tegrity Player's navigation controls you can:

• Raise your "virtual hand" in order to request a permission to speak.
• Speak with the instructor and other participants using your microphone connected to your PC
• Adjust your microphone level
• View who's attending the Live class
• Chat live with your classmates or privately with the instructor

Troubleshooting

In order to assure successful viewing experience, it is strongly recommended to run the Tegrity Browser Test Wizard. You can activate the Wizard by clicking on the "First Time User? Click Here" link on the Tegrity Player's title page. This wizard will test your computer and will indicate whether it has all the components necessary to view Tegrity sessions. In case of missing component(s) the wizard will try to download and install it for you. In some cases the it will refer you where to download and install the missing components from.
