Welcome to First-Time User Help for the Tegrity eLearning Experience!

1) Test your Browser and Components

This wizard checks if your browser has all the components required for viewing Tegrity recordings or live sessions on your PC or Mac. If anything needs to be installed or upgraded, it will provide you with detailed instructions and links for downloading.

Test my browser
Please note: If the button does not work, make sure the Java Script option is enabled in your browser preferences.

2) Get Started

To begin streaming the recording or join a live session, select a link in the "Choose Your Connection Speed" box on your left. If a "Download for Later Viewing" link appears at the bottom of the box, you may download the recording to your hard drive for offline viewing.

Need help? For additional troubleshooting information, use the question mark button ("?") located on the Tegrity Player's control window.

3) Common issues for first time viewers

- Display properties: Always view a recording in 800x600 resolution or greater, and use 16, 24, or 32 bit display.

- Download Tegrity Java component: Both PC and Mac viewers will be prompted with the "trust Tegrity" message box when viewing Tegrity sessions at the first time. This step is necessary in order to allow the Tegrity Java components to be downloaded. You can view the recording even if you refuse to allow the "trusted" code to run, but we strongly recommend you allow it for reducing download time in the future.

4) Troubleshooting

- Microsoft Virtual Machine/Sun Java upgrade: If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer and experience problems while viewing or closing the recording, we recommend you upgrade your Microsoft Virtual Machine or Sun Java.

- If Media Player 6.4 (or below) is installed on your computer and the video window is black when you view the session, please download and install the Media Player Screen Codec found here. If you are watching offline and the session does not open, please connect and download the Screen Codec before watching the session for the first time.

If you are a Mac user and Tegrity doesnt play when the media clip segment is reached, then:
  • Make sure that Windows Media Player for Mac is installed

  • If Windows Media Player for Mac is installed, locate the Sample.asf file (usually located under your hard drive > Applications > Windows Media ) and double click it in order to activate it. After Windows Media Player has played the sample file, close Windows Media Player and re-launch the Tegrity session.

Media clip finished to play, but Tegrity session has not resumed playing:

  • Close Windows Media Player for Mac, and press the PLAY button on your Tegrity Player in order to continue with the session.
